What is it?

Lumiant has integrated with Amazon Transcribe to allow you convert voice to text in any multi-line data capture. Saving you time, and allowing you to focus on your clients rather than your keyboard 🧑🏻‍💻

What is Amazon Transcribe?

Using Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) technology Amazon Transcribe is an Amazon Web Services (AWS) service that makes it easy to convert speech-to-text. 

When can I use it?

You can use it when you are:

• Conducting a face to face meeting with your clients, using Lumiant to transcribe the ambient conversation.
• Dictating your notes rather than typing for efficiency.
• NOTE You can use it whilst you are on a video conference with your clients, however you will must have the meeting audio playing out of your speaker not a headset. 

How do I use it?

You will see a microphone against text boxes where you can activate Voice to Text by clicking on the microphone icon. This will then give you a 3 second countdown until the recording commences.
Once done simply click save.

You will be able to edit the text to manage any inaccuracies. 

NOTE: As the recording is embedded in the Lumiant browser do not navigate away without saving the transcript.

How accurate is it? What about quality, background noises or accents?

It's not always going to be 100% accurate however Amazon Transcribe service is designed to handle a wide range of speech and acoustic characteristics, including variations in volume, pitch, and speaking rate. The quality and content of the audio signal (including but not limited to factors such as background noise, overlapping speakers, accented speech, or switches between languages within a single audio file) may affect the accuracy of service output. Amazon are constantly updating the service to improve its ability to accommodate additional acoustic variation and content types. 

How much can be captured?

Where the voice to text feature is available you will see a microphone for you to activate the transcription service. A modal will appear, and after a countdown it will start transcribing. It will let you know how many characters your have left. If you go over you will need to edit down the notes.

Does it record/store audio files?

No. However in the future we will allow you record audio files (with transcripts) for your conversations with clients. Those will be accessed from our Your Vault module currently in development.
